Bennet's Appliance began in 1931 when Bennet Geiser worked for his uncles at Smith Dairy Products Company in Orrville, Ohio. Officially, in 1945, when the dairy acquired the franchise to sell Frigidaire appliances, Bennet established 'Bennet Refrigeration and Appliance Company, Inc.' The appliance store was located in one-half of the dairy's truck garage. It was then Bennet learned to repair the refrigeration systems, milk coolers, ice cream cabinets, dairy cases and refrigerated trucks.
In 1947 a new building was constructed in downtown Orrville to accommodate Bennet's growing business. The appliance store carried popular name brands like RCA, Frigidaire, and Maytag.
Under third-generation ownership, Bennet's Appliance sells major appliances, furniture, mattresses and consumer electronics products throughout northeastern Ohio. With a history of continuous growth in what is a very competitive business, Bennet's receives most of its business from repeat and referred customers. Bennet's has withstood intense competition from large chain stores and survived the test of time by giving personal service, providing award-winning delivery, installations and repair work, maintaining competitive prices and meeting changing customer needs.
As an original member of one of the largest buying groups in the nation (over 3,000 independent stores nationwide) Bennet's operates with buying power that rivals larger national retailers. That buying power, combined with Bennet's devotion to quality service, has helped grow the business into the largest store of its kind in the area.
